The coconut tree (Cocos nucifera) is a member of the palm tree family and the only living species of the genus Cocos. The term "coconut" can refer to the whole palm, the seed, or the fruit, which is botanically a drupe, not a nut.
Description
The coconut palm grows up to 30 meters tall and has large pinnate leaves. The fruit has a fibrous husk and a hard shell containing coconut water and flesh.
